Oliver Stone decries Jewish lobby's power

Jewish organizational and Israeli officials condemned the remarks, which were published Sunday.

The article by reporter Camilla Long is not available online without a paid subscription to the newspaper, although British bloggers and other newspapers have printed excerpts.

During the interview, Stone said that Jews were dictating U.S. foreign policy and that the Jewish lobby "are hard workers."

"They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington," he said, adding that "Israel has f---ed up United States foreign policy for years."

Stone, the winner of three Academy Awards, including as best director for "Platoon" and "Born on the Fourth of July," has a Jewish father. He also directed such films as "Wall Street," "JFK" and "Nixon."

On Hitler, Stone said that the German leader “did far more damage to the Russians than the Jewish people, 25 or 30 million. Hitler was a Frankenstein, but there was also a Dr. Frankenstein -- German industrialists, the Americans and the British. He had a lot of support.”

Elan Steinberg, vice president of the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and their Descendants, in a brief statement said that "We are deeply offended. These are words of hate and a disgraceful evocation of anti-Semitism. Shame on Oliver Stone."

Israel's public diplomacy minister, Yuli Edelstein, also condemned Stone's remarks.

"They are nauseating, anti-Semitic and racist," the Jerusalem Post quoted Edelstein as saying. "Not only is he showing ignorance, he is demonizing Jews for no reason and returning to the 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion.'

"When a man of Stone's stature speaks in this way, it can bring waves of anti-Semitism and anti-Israel sentiment, and may even damage Jewish communities and individuals."

Stone recently completed a documentary on Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and is working on a documentary series about American history.

A mere reading of the article answers that question. Doesn't appear to have anything to do with questioning the Jewish lobby, but the questioning of the holocaust.

And the focus of any discussion on the Holocaust necessarily involves denying its existence? Is it impossible to conceive of any discussion about the Holocaust that does not feature its denial?

I ask because the article did not make the meaning of "context" very clear, yet you assume the context is denial. Jumping the gun a little, don't you think?

It's a legitimate question, not spin. I asked you to point out how Stone illustrated his anti-semiticism, and you pointed to the 'honest discussion of Holocaust' line.

Now, I ask you, what about wanting an "honest discussion" on the Holocaust is anti-semitic? Or is he anti-semitic for other reasons?

Stone never questions the Holocaust at all. he wants more discussion about it in the open. i made an attempt at that before actually. Started a new thread on it back in the day. I was happy that I showed that it wasn't just a German War machine. I think I managed to show that, while it was the Germans intent for the Holocaust, they couldn't have done it all without many many willing collaborators.

So no... he isn't been anti-semetic at all.... you stupid pussy. We see the Holocaust been squarely blamed on... not the Germans... but the NAZI's. The NAZI's it seems don;t even have a race anymore... they a just referred to as NAZI's. And its easy nowadays to seperate Germans and NAZI's. In most peoples thoughts there is nothing in common with germans and NAZI's.

'The NAZI's... well they were just an ugly side of a very small bunch of german types,.. but once the war was won we had the Russians against us and the nazis just vanished and now we have good Germans again... horay!'

So the Germans were rehabilitated in the eyes of the West. Within 10 years, even as the UK's streets were still in rubble, piblic opinion was happily allied to the same people who broke those same streets. The deal was.. rehabilitate the Germans, forgive their Nazi ways, and they'll unite against the Warsaw pact as it turned out to be.

Common view also failed to account for the huge number of Baltics, Ukrainian nationalists, Croatians, Romanians, Hungarians etc who killed the Jews. They never figure at all.

There a lot of people, some of them non-Jew who are super paranoid about anyone even talking about the Holocaust as they believe every discussion has potential to bring more deniers out. At least Stone doesn't have to worry about working in an industry where there might be some blow back. :lol:

He's already issues an apology: ""In trying to make a broader point about the range of atrocities the Germans committed against many people, I made a clumsy association about the Holocaust, for which I am sorry and I regret," Stone said in a statement."

"Jews obviously do not control media or any other industry," the statement said. "The fact that the Holocaust is still a very important, vivid and current matter today is, in fact, a great credit to the very hard work of a broad coalition to the remembrance of this atrocity -- and it was an atrocity."

Why do they hang on to this holocaust so dearly ? Most of the people from both sides are dead and gone... that time doesn't exist anymore. I don't understand how a million dead x people are any more special than a million dead y people.
Could it be that's their only tool, their only leverage, like slavery is for the browns... point out any obvious wrongdoing on their part and they point their finger like a gun and call out all the labels most white people are afraid of.

I may not fully understand, but that's what it looks like from my perspective.
