First reaction... sadness for the sheer tragedy. Then I started watching the coverage and I must say these people make Katrina "victims" look like Manhattan-ites.
This island nation is a mess, always has been. It will be an utter black hole, endless money pit.
Are we willing to invest 500m into Haiti? How about 1b? 5b?

Why can't the UN be smart like me? Here's what we should do in ALL failed nations.

Depopulate the nation. Take all the people and move them to... Africa, their ancestral home. Put 100,000 in each major nation. Pay the nation to assimilate the immigrants instead of rebuilding the failed nation.

Clean up haiti with bulldozers, build artificial islands with rubble. Then auction off the nations landmass to the highest bidder. The funds go to the populations host nations.

Some investment group would purchase the landmass for billions and buiild resorts there. Capitalism would make the land pristine

I've got a better idea. Send them the Amerika. American culture is probably close to what their used to.

You know what would be nice? If they'd use F*** protection... A lot of Haiti's (and Africa's) problems stem from massive overpopulation, in fact their numbers are just plain unsustainable for such a tiny island nation.

BTW, I didn't even know there was such a large population of sub-Saharan blacks in Ireland. It seems uncontrollable African copulation will lead to systemic global overpopulation at this rate... :foilhat:

Their population is directly related to the amount of financial aid (free food) they receive, just like the ultra poor countries of africa.... so no matter how much they are given, their population will grow enough to keep them on the edge of survival.
Stop screwing with nature... let natural selection take it's course. The population will eventually stabilize at a level their local resources can support.

Population density is low in parts of Africa for much the same reason it is in Antarctica.

Saddam doesnt really, he was much more of a secular ruler. Many things can fit all of the seals really.
